Properties: Rosettes of thin needles. Thermostable. uv max (0.1N NaOH): 343, 276, 258, 220 nm; (0.1N HCl): 343, 289, 212 nm. Maximum fluorescence (blue) between 265 and 390 nm at a pH between 5 and 8. Sol in water (0.3 mg/ml), hot ethanol, methanol, and pyridine. Practically insol in organic solvents not miscible with water.
