Properties: Hard material, passes into plastic form on heating. mp 117-120°. Practically insol in water. When freshly made, sol in alcohol, benzene, oil turpentine, mineral oils. Forms cryst pyridine complex.

Use: Waterproofing fabrics, ropes; in paint and varnish driers; thickening lubricating oils; in cements; in light-sensitive photographic compositions.
