Properties: Colorless liq; phenol odor. Cooling the liq to -30° gives a metastable cryst form, mp about -28°; when kept for 24-48 hrs, this changes to the stable cryst form, mp -3.4°. fp -3.31 ± 0.01° for repurified sample. bp760 204.52°. d20 1.01885 ± 0.00001; d25 1.01459; d30 1.01033 ± 0.00001 (g/ml). Practically insol in water. Freely sol in alcohol, benzene, glacial acetic acid.
