Properties: White powder or cubic crystals, (zinc blende structure); turns green to dark-blue on exposure to sunlight. mp 504°; bp 1345°; d425 4.72. Slightly sol in cold water, dec in hot water, HNO3. Sol in HCl, HBr, NH4OH with formation of complexes. Practically insol in acetone, concd H2SO4. Keep tightly closed in a dark place.

Density: d425 4.72
Use: As catalyst for organic reactions.
