Kistrin
Title: Kistrin
CAS Registry Number: 127829-86-1
CAS Name: Kistrin (Agkistrodon rhodostoma reduced)
Literature References: Member of a homologous family of low molecular weight, cysteine-rich proteins known as disintegrins. Isolated from various viper venoms; characterized by an Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) binding site and by inhibition of platelet aggregation by antagonism of glycoprotein IIb-IIIa integrin receptors. A single chain polypeptide, mol wt ~7318, consists of 68 amino acids with six intramolecular disulfide bonds; no regular secondary structure. Isolated from the venom of the Malayan pit viper Agkistrodon rhodostoma. Purification, chemical and biological characterization: M. S. Dennis et al., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 87, 2471 (1989); R. A. Lazarus, M. S. Dennis, WO 9015072 (1990 to Genentech). Preliminary structural study: M. Adler et al., Science 253, 445 (1991). NMR structural study: M. Adler, G. Wagner, Biochemistry 31, 1031 (1992). Enhancement of coronary arterial thrombolysis in dogs: T. Yasuda et al., Circulation 83, 1038 (1991). Binding interaction with glycoprotein IIb-IIIa: M. S. Dennis et al., Proteins 15, 312 (1993). Brief review: R. J. Gould et al., Proc. Soc. Exp. Biol. Med. 195, 168-171 (1990).
